Understanding the importance of golf in
business, Melody has organized several leagues, including the Columbus Business
Women's Golf League, to encourage women to participate in golf. Melody's advice
to new golfers: "Understanding golf means realizing it is a game that requires
15% skill and 85% the right mental attitude." Melody created and founded
CHOICES Women's Golf Tournament, which raises over $50,000 annually for
programs and services for victims of domestic violence. While training and
supporting women golfers, Melody also has conducted several youth golf camps,
"Bring Out the Tiger in You."
In addition to her golf business, Melody
also works with community-based service providers, schools and chambers of
commerce to develop small business and economic development projects. She is a
graduate of Bowling Green State University and a former program director in the
Ohio Department of Development.
Melody and husband, Bill, reside in
Hide-A-Way Hills in picturesque southeastern Ohio. The community includes, of
course, a golf course. She organizes annually the Columbus Chapter of NAWBO Golf Outing raising funds for Central Ohio women's charities. Melody has been a golf mentor for Women in New Growth Stages,
conducting clinics and her prototype "Nongolfers Golf Scramble."
